About me.

I am deeply passionate about my role as an educator and senior leader in my capacity as Deputy Principal. I am committed to making a meaningful contribution to my kura and wider community. Dedicated, resourceful, innovative, and relational, I am a strong communicator who consistently achieves positive outcomes for learners.

My varied leadership roles have provided rich opportunities to influence pedagogical, curriculum, and pastoral development. I value the ability to lead change and find great fulfilment in seeing the positive impact on kaiako, tauira, and whānau.

As a curriculum leader, I prioritise progressiveness, student voice, mātauranga Māori, and the development of learner self-efficacy. I actively foster professional dialogue that empowers educators and builds cultures of reflection, action, and continuous improvement. I believe academic success looks different for every learner, and it is essential that we honour their diverse needs and aspirations through rich, inclusive curriculum design.

My leadership is grounded in Te Ao Māori values, including whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga, hononga, and pūmanawa. I believe culturally responsive practice is not only about honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi, but represents best practice in education. Through deliberate, intentional leadership, equitable outcomes for all learners can be achieved.

I value the complexity of school leadership, including the day-to-day operations, relationship management, and strategic oversight of financial and property priorities. While stepping into principalship would be a significant next step, I approach it with openness, humility, and a strong willingness to learn.

I recognise the profound impact a principal has on the direction of a school and the futures of its young people. It is a responsibility and a wero I am ready to embrace. I am energised by the opportunity to take the next step in my leadership journey and excited about what lies ahead.

My family.

Life outside of school revolves around my family. My wife Victoria and I are raising our two young children, Florence (5) and Tommy (3), who keep us busy in the best way. Whether it’s getting outdoors, spending time together, or just keeping up with the pace of young kids, they keep me grounded and remind me what really matters.
